Insomnia

I’m finally feeling a bit alive again. I tend to suffer from insomnia. I have times where I don’t sleep for weeks and somehow it doesn’t effect me that much. Other times I feel broken after only a couple of nights of non-sleep. This weekend was one of those hard ones.

Saturday night I went to bed early because I felt knackered, but I could not get any sleep and I ended up reading a book from start to finish. The next night it was the same thing; again no sleep no matter how tired I was. Monday I felt like a train-wreck. I had no energy at all. I didn’t feel like exercising, I didn’t feel like watching TV, I didn’t feel like getting on the internet and search for Outer Banks rentals, I didn’t feel like anything at all. All I wanted to do was sleep.

Monday night I could not sleep. After hours of restless tossing and turning I decided to take a sleeping pill. Sometimes that works, sometimes it makes me more tired but it doesn’t put me to sleep. This time I fell asleep and slept for about 20 hours straight. Even when I woke up I didn’t want to get out of bed and do anything. I wanted to sleep a bit more.

Today I finally feel a bit better again. Hopefully tonight I can get another good night sleep in, because tomorrow I have an important day ahead me.

Rage Against The Machine - Pinkpop 1996

One of my favorite bands is Rage Against the Machine and I have been so lucky to see them at the Pinkpop Festival (Holland) in 1996. The performance was great. It was so loud and everyone was jumping up and down so much that it showed up on the Richter scale.

Today I was searching on YouTube for bands that I’ve seen live when I came across a video of that concert of R.A.T.M. It’s pretty cool to see the performance again. Hope you’ll like it as much as I do. Enjoy your Saturday!!!!

Does your job define who you are?

You might think this is really weird, but sometimes by just hearing what type of job the person has I get this feeling about whether they are trustworthy and nice or not.

With lawyers for example I used to think that they are those little weasels who try to find any dirt on people to discredit them or how they try to defend monsters who should be locked up. After my hubby’s work accident we’ve had to deal with lawyers a lot and even though I think our own lawyer is alright and there are many exceptions, I still don’t have a good opinion of them. I know they are just doing their job, but it’s not always pretty.

Mortgage lenders and insurance sales people are other people who don’t score too high with me. Why? Maybe because I expect the negative. I have been scammed by an insurance sales person and ever since I just don’t like them. Nurses, volunteers and other people in the social welfare industry just seem like they are much better people because they take care of people. But does that make them better people than the lawyers, sales people and the likes? No of course not.

A person should not be defined by their job. You can not stereotype them all into one category. But even though I know that, I sometimes can’t help shake that feeling…

Self made cards and invitations

One of the things I really like to get in the mail (apart from cheques) are party invitations. The other day my cousin from Holland send me a wedding invitation, but unfortunately I can not be there to witness the ceremony and the party afterward. The invitation was a self-made card with beautiful pictures of the lovely couple.

Self made invitations are my favorite types of cards. Hand made cards - no matter how simple - show to me that they have put in some extra time, maybe a bit of extra love and lots of effort to make them. It just makes them a little bit more special.

Since I can’t be there for the wedding I’m planning on making them a real nice wedding card. We have a warehouse in town where they sell real nice scrapping material for a very low price. I hope they will like the card.

Busting pimples

I just did the 7 Facts About Me meme with 7 things that you probably didn’t know about me. Well, I’ve got another confession to make. I absolutely hate acne, but I LOVE squeezing pimples! Since I have started using tea tree oil in my day and night cream I don’t really get any pimples anymore, but when I see someone else with a big zip my hands just start to itch.

The bigger the pimple the better and if it has a big white top on it I just can’t help myself; I really want to bust it. My husband thinks it funny, because he is the opposite; he hates busting them and finds it gross, but I think it’s great. Especially when the puss bursts out. But unfortunately I can’t go around ask people if it’s alright if I bust their pimples so at the moment my services are only available to my hubby.

Do you like squeezing pimples?
