Today was another beautiful day. Sun was shining, blue skyes and busy on the road with old timers and bike riders. One thing I absolutely don’t understand and gets me mad every time is the lack of protection the motorbike riders are wearing here in Australia. Seriously, the amount of times I see motorbike riders driving around in only a t-shirt and shorts is amazing. What are these idiots thinking?
I can understand that when the sun is blazing it can be hot on your motorbike, but still, there is no excuse to NOT have protective wear. As a motorbike rider you are so vulnerable and an accident happens so fast. I don’t even want to think about what can happen to those people riding their bikes in shorts and t-shirts. I wish they’d start using their heads a bit more when they take their bikes out for a ride.

So this morning the first race of the MotoGP season was finally on. I got up at 2.45 am to watch the entire show and all the races. MotoGP was making history with the first ever night race under lots (and I mean lots) of flood lights.
MotoGP world champion Casey Stoner took the lead after approximately 8 laps and never looked back. Rookie Jorge Lorenzo finished second in front of Dani Pedrosa. My favorite Valentino Rossi finished in 5th position. He did lead the race at one stage, but he was struggling later on as the set up of the bike made him struggle in the second part of the race. But he fought hard and had a good race nevertheless.
Now I have to wait another 3 weeks before the next race in Jerez, Spain. I can’t wait!!!

I am so freaking excited!!! Last week the Superbikes and Supersport season started and next week the MotoGP class will hit it off with a night race at Qatar. Today the Superbikes and Supersport class will race at Philip Island here in Australia.
I wish I could be there, but unfortunately Philip Island isn’t exactly around the corner and a tight budget stops us from going there. I am a bit bummed (actually a lot) about it because I haven’t been to a Superbike/Supersport race since 2004 in Assen, Holland. But fortunately we can watch every minute of it on TV, so I’ll be glued to it in approximately an hour.
It promises to be an exciting one. My favorite Superbike rider Troy Bayliss had a bad crash in the training, but with 8 stitches in his arm he still managed to grab Super Pole. I hope he wins. In the Supersport the Aussies are looking good too. I hope it will be a true Aussie domination today and a good race for Dutch rider Barry Veneman!

Today is going to be the last race of the MotoGP season. I always hate it when the season finishes; it just takes way too long before the next season starts. Sundays will be boring again and I will be counting down the days until the next race.
Anyway, seven times world champion (and my hero) Valentino Rossi had a huge crash yesterday in the qualifying session. It was horrible, but fortunately he walked away with ‘only’ 3 fractures in his hand and a sore back. He did manage to qualify in 17th position even though he was only a couple of minutes on the track before he crashed. He wants to race though, but said he’d make the decision in the morning.
He only needs one point to secure the second place in the championship. His rival for the second place is Dani Pedrosa and he grabbed Pole Position in his home grand prix. Fingers crossed that Valentino can race and at least grab one point!

It’s Monday again! The weekend always goes so fast. This weekend I’ve been enjoying the MotoGP races again. It was the penultimate round of the season and the races were in Malaysia - Sepang.
The 250cc world championship got decided and I am not happy about how it happened. One of my favorite riders who is the runner up in the championship crashed out of the race thanks to some other rider making a dumb move that wasn’t going to work out. Jorge Lorenzo grabbed the world title. I must say he is a worthy champion, but I just hate it if championships get decided that way. Lorenzo might have gotten the title next race anyway, but still..
The 125cc championship will be decided in Valencia in two weeks time. It’s one of my favorite classes in motorcycle racing. The overtaking is always exciting and I love the close racing.
My favorite MotoGP rider Valentino Rossi struggled all weekend with the grip of his tyres and qualified in 9th. He was very fast in the race, but because he had such a bad starting position he wasn’t able to catch up with the race leaders. He finished in 5th which is pretty good considering all the problems he’d been having. Aussie Casey Stoner took the win… again!
One more race to go and the season is finished. That is really gonna suck. I hate the off-season; it just takes way too long before the new season starts.
