As some of my regular blog readers know my husband is addicted to Oxycontin. He has been taking the pain killers for over three years now. Getting off it is a long and painful process. But… he has finally taken the step to lower his dosis again. Yesterday he has started with 10 mg twice a day instead of 20 mg.
I don’t know what the doctors were thinking when they put him on it. I know he was (and still is) in a lot of pain, but there are other ways to manage pain. The fact that the pain clinic even cranked up the dosage instead of looking for saver and better alternatives is disturbing. They don’t call Oxycontin Hillbilly Heroine for nothing!
It is hard to see my hubby go through this. It’s almost like living with a junkie, except for the fact that we get this on prescription. He’s having bad withdrawels, all his muscles are aching and he constantly has hot and cold sweats. And the worst thing of all is that I can’t do much to help him. I just have to see him go through it. It sucks…

When I was a teenager I had a bit of an acne problem, not so much in my face, but more on my back and shoulders. I absolutely hated it because I was wearing swimwear on a daily basis. I tried a lot of different things back then to get rid of it, even prescription medication.
Acne treatment can be very expensive, but if you are looking for a cheap solution I can recommend Tea Tree Oil. You can buy bottles for under $10 and you only need a few drops. Tea tree oil is antiseptic and can also be used for cuts and burns.
Personally I buy cheap body lotion or face cream and mix a couple of drops of tea tree oil through it. When I use it every day I hardly get any pimples at all. But if somehow some pimples come through you can use a drop of pure tea tree oil on it and it will disappear fairly quickly.

“There are no limits - Only in your imagination!”
The quote above is probably one of my favorite quotes. I once saw it printed on a t-shirt of a member of my water-polo club. That quote really hit me, because it is so true. When you limit yourself in your mind, you will never be able to achieve your goals. I think almost every body has limiting thoughts; I can’t do it, I can’t afford it, I’ll never lose the weight, that will never happen, etc. But the truth is that you can achieve anything if you put your mind to it.
Yesterday I read the perfect example of mind over matter in the newspaper. Would you consider having surgery without anaesthetics? I know that I would not even have to think about that one; there’s just no way! But 61 year old Alex Lenkei from Worthing England did it. He is a hypnotist by profession and he proofed that hypnotists are not a bunch of crooks. He hypnotised himself to undergo an 83-minute surgery on his hand. You can watch a video about it here. According to Mr. Lenkei he was aware of what was going on, but he did not feel any pain.
I think it is amazing. It just goes to show that our mind is the most powerful tool we have!
