Our holiday is just around the corner

Today my new passport arrived by mail. It came faster than I expected. At the consulate they told me it would take 3 to 5 weeks, but it arrived after only 2 weeks. Because my visa is still in my old passport I will have to travel with two passports from now on. My old passport has been made invalid though with lots of holes in it.

The good thing about it arriving so early is that I now can start arranging our holiday to my home country. It means paying lots of rent up front, making sure all bills are paid, booking the cats into a pet resort, booking the tickets, arranging insurance, holding the mail, talking to our lawyer about the latest stuff, and so on on. Whenever I go on holiday I am always so worried that I forget something.

In a way I am so stoked about going on holiday, but on the other hand I just think about all the money that it’s going to cost and it makes me depressed again even though my family is paying for the tickets. Also the thought that our house will be empty for about a month or so is not a very nice thought. We don’t have any family here that would like to look after it while we are gone. Not long ago someone broke into our shed, but fortunately we didn’t have anything of value in there (hubby keeps his tools in the house). Holiday is supposed to be fun and I can’t wait to get a break from everything, but I am stressing about it all.

Being away from your home is very stressful. As the old saying, there’s no place like home.
