Renewal of passport

So today I went to the Dutch Consulate to renew my passport. My hubby wanted to come to the city with me, but he was too sick from the withdrawals to come. So I went by myself. When I got there I was a bit early so I had to wait for the consulate to open up.

While I was waiting a guy came walking up to me and asked if I wanted to buy some candy. We started to chat - turned out he was homeless and selling candy to make some money. I really felt sorry for the dude, especially since he seemed like such a nice guy. It just reminded me how important it is to have term life insurance. You never know what life brings you and it’s good to have a back up plan in case things go wrong. So I bought candy even though I didn’t want to have it, but it was the least I could do. I hope life will bring him a bit more luck.

When the consulate opened I applied for a new passport. It was fun to speak my own language again and see pictures of the queen of my country, read Dutch magazines and see other typical Dutch stuff. The awful passport pictures I got done yesterday turned out to be no good and they took new ones at the consulate. Cost me $23 for just 4 pictures (rip off!!!!). Anyway, everything went fine and now I am without a passport for a couple of weeks. Scary thought! I hope my new (and old) passport come quickly in the mail.
