Yesterday I went to electrical shop because I had to get some batteries that I couldn’t buy in the supermarket. Since I was there I thought I’ll have a look around and saw all these awesome digital camera’s. I can’t believe how quickly they come out with new ones. It’s almost as if your camera is old the day you buy it, because the next day a newer, bigger (or smaller) and better one comes out.
Anyway, when I was done admiring the new camera’s I walked passed the computer section and saw beautiful small laptops and computers with a small lcd monitor. I wish I could buy one of them. My computer is three years old now and the monitor is huge, heavy and takes up lots of space.
Walking around that shop made me feel sh*t. The shop was filled with all these nice gadgets and products I love to own. But it just reminded me of how low our bank account funds are. So I quickly got the batteries I needed and got out of there.

In January I asked the question ‘What would you do?‘ It was about a guy I had not seen in 17 years and who, all of the sudden, wants to meet up with me, or better said who wants to stay at my house. The guy is backpacking around Australia and thinks that since we went to elementary school together that I owe him a roof over his head, food on the table and a tour guide for free. He is very close to where I live right now and he has plans to work in this area.
After that last post I have been ignoring him. I have not replied to his emails, I have not replied to his messages on hyves and I have unsubscribed myself from his mailing-list (of blog updates) that he put me on without asking. You would think that he gets the picture. You would think that maybe if someone ignores you they might not be interested. But… he doesn’t get it!
Yesterday my mum gave me a buzz that he now has my home phone number. Apparently he had asked his mum to ring my relatives to get my home phone number. And I am pissed that someone has actually given it to her. So I am expecting a phone call any moment and I am thinking of what excuse I can give him. The thing is that I don’t want to come up with an excuse. I just don’t want to see the guy or even talk to him. When I still lived in Holland I would not have talked to him, so why should I now?
For now, I am just staying online all day even when I am not behind the computer (I have a dial-up modem) so at least I don’t have to answer the phone. People who really need to talk to me can always reach me on my mobile.

If I ever go to America I would love to stop in at Branson Missouri. Why? Well, they don’t call it ‘Live Entertainment Capital’ for nothing. Branson is host to many world-famous performers. But there is also another reason I would love to go to there; Ripley’s believe it or not, Silver Dollar City theme park, Outback Bungee, World’s largest antique toys museum, cool water rides, caves and caverns, miniature golf courses, a go kart center, plenty of shopping and much more. Branson has more than enough attractions to keep you occupied during your holiday in a fun and exciting way.
BransonGetaways.com offers seven different vacation packages. Each package consist of overnight stays and tickets to some magnificent shows and attractions. But, if you are not satisfied with any of the vacation packages they offer, you get the chance to custom design your own vacation package. You can choose out of several different lodging and accommodations. On the website you can have a look at what accommodations look like and what they have to offer.
Looks like a pretty cool vacation if you ask me!

This is part 2 of Welcome to Australia.
The next morning I was pretty hungry and thirsty; I had nothing to eat or drink since I had gotten off the airplane. When I got out of bed the first thing my in-laws did was hit me up for money. I had given them a carton of smokes (worth about $70) as a thank you for picking me up from the airport but they wanted another $50 for fuel. I almost regretted that I had given them the carton of smokes. Then they wanted money for this and money for that, etc. I was almost cursing at my hubby for owing them that much money and not telling me about it. When I later that day told my hubby about it he almost exploded from anger because he did not owe them the money I had paid them. They had tricked me.
After ending up broke I was ready for breakfast, but I didn’t even get the chance to eat or drink anything because they wanted me to pick up my hubby’s car at the hospital where the ambulance had brought him to. My hubby’s friend and co-worker had parked the car there and given the brother-in-law the keys. So my hubby’s brother dropped me off at the hospital in a town I didn’t knew and again he wanted to leave me there. I got pretty mad and told him I didn’t know how to get to our house. Didn’t he understand I was coming from a different country and therefor didn’t know my way around? So after a bit of argument he decided to drive in front of me to show me the way home.
When I finally got to our house my brother-in-law dissappeared immediately. There I was; tired from the trip, sad about my hubby’s accident and all by myself in a new country. Welcome to Australia!

When my hubby got injured because of an accident at work I was still living in Holland. The day before the work accident I had gotten the last document I needed to apply for an Australian visa. I tried to ring my hubby to tell him the good news; I was going to make an appointment at the Australian embassy in Berlin and hopefully within a few months I could come over. But my hubby didn’t answer the phone…
A few hours later when I was at work I got the bad news; my hubby had a work accident and was missing a few fingers. I decided then and there to quit my job and to go over to Australia to take care of him. I would sort out my residence visa over there. After a few phone calls with his brother I decided not to tell my hubby I was coming over and surprise him. His brother would pick me up from the airport.
After a trip of 24 hours his brother, wife and two kids were waiting for me at the airport. They grabbed my suitcase, we got in the car and they asked me where I wanted to go. I told them I wanted to see my hubby a.s.a.p. so we went to the hospital in the big city. My husband was very surprised to see me and we were both in tears. Tears of joy because we had not seen each other for a while and tears of sadness and pain about what had happened.
While I was in the hospital my family-in-law decided to go home and left me all alone in the hospital without my stuff. I was in a different country where I didn’t know where I was without my luggage and without a key to our house. I was not amused to say the least, so I rang my in-laws. I wanted the key to our house and my luggage (which they had in their possession). They told me they didn’t want me to spend my first night in Australia by myself so they insisted that I came to their house and spend the night there. If they were so concerned about me not being by myself they should not have left me in a hospital in a strange city without my stuff to in the first place!
When I left the hospital I jumped in a taxi because I had no clue where I was. I thought that if I go to the trainstation I would figure out how to get to the town where my in-laws lived. When I finally arrived at the train station of that town after a train trip of an hour they picked me up from the train station. After arriving at their house I got a bit of a cranky welcome. It was late in the evening and they all wanted to sleep and they basically ‘dumped’ me on the couch. I felt very unwelcome.
To be continued…
