Chocolate Eggs

Chocolate EggsI hope you all had a great Easter weekend. Mine was very relaxing actually. I didn’t do much at all. I mainly spend the weekend laying on the couch watching movies and eating chocolate eggs.

It was for the first time this year that I let myself go when it comes to ‘bad’ food. The whole year I had not touched any chocolate at all, but this weekend it was pretty bad. And hubby even told me to go to the shops after Easter to get more chocolate eggs on special. Chocolate can be so addicting! Hmm… I wonder if they have addiction treatment for chocoholics?

Anyway, I told hubby that I wouldn’t buy anymore chocolate. Time to get back to our healthy diets. I am munching on a healthy tuna salad right as we speak…

I miss my family

Whenever a baby gets born in the family I get a little bit sad. Of course I am happy for them; a new life is something so amazing. But… being on the other side of the world, not being able to share the joy with them and go visit the new-born is making me a bit sad and homesick.

Shopping for a present for them and seeing baby cribs, cute tiny clothes and toys makes it even worse, because then it also makes me miss shopping with my mum. Sometimes I wonder if I would be happier living in Holland again.

Furniture problems

For the last three years we’ve been living with ‘temporary’ furniture in my house. The ‘temporary’ furniture consists of lots of second hand furniture and ‘gifts’ from family and friends. The plan was to live with this furniture until our own beautiful furniture would be shipped over once we buy a house. But we are three years down the track and it doesn’t even look like we’re getting close to getting our own house. Our house is simply to small to fit all our own furniture. Fortunately my parents don’t mind storing it at their house for that long.

But the thing is that I am getting tired of living in a house that has no decoration at all and with furniture I don’t like. I wouldn’t have mind so much if it was indeed temporary, but three years is long. Especially since we had to get rid of some furniture after it broke down. We have a dining room table, but no chairs to go with it. We don’t have a couch, we use a crappy futon to sit on. The TV is on some sort of wooden table made by an old friend, but it desperately needs to be replaced. I could go on and on.

Fact is that is that I start to get fed up with it. I don’t feel comfortable when people visit us, because they get the impression that we’re bums. I don’t even have sitting space for four people. I’ve been thinking about replacing some pieces of furniture, but I don’t want to pay a lot of money for it. So lately I’ve been looking around the internet for sites like directbuy who sell furniture for a cheap prize and I’ve been going to vintage shops to see if I can find something decent for a prize I can afford.

Does anyone have any other ideas to make our house look a little bit better for not much money?

Feeling a bit crook

The last few days I’ve been feeling absolutely crap. My old neck injury is playing up again and that means bad headaches and lots of pain in my neck, shoulders and between my shoulder blades. The headaches have been pretty bad and yesterday it didn’t matter how many pain killers, heat-packs or rest I took it just didn’t want to go away.

This morning I got a bit stubborn. I felt half decent and thought I could work out in the gym. When you exercise your body releases endorphins and I thought it might help a bit  with the headaches. Wrong!!! I felt like puking and my arms and legs were shaking real bad so I gave up and went home.  I had a nice hot shower and I think I’m going to lay down in bed and see if I can get some sleep.

Jeff Hardy’s house up in smoke

Jeff Hardy is one of my favorite WWE wrestlers. Unfortunately he is having a very rough week.First I learned that he got suspended for 60 days for violating the wellness police and today I read on the TMZ website that his house is burned down to the ground.  Not only did he lost all his belongings, but his dog perished too!

How awful is that? I can not begin to imagine what it must feel like to lose everything you have in a fire.  And to lose your dog as well must be so heart breaking.
