Are you at risk for a Cardiac Arrest?

Not long ago I had some blood tests done to see if my cholesterol levels were high or not. High cholesterol runs in my family so it’s good to have it checked regurarly. Apparently they were so high that according my GP I was - in her words - about to have a heart attack. I thought that was pretty scary stuff, because I am not that old yet. So I decided to find more information about high cholesterol and what I could do to prevent a heart attack.

I found this great website on the Internet called Inside Cardiac Arrest. The website provides you with a lot of information about Cardiac Arrest and heart attacks. I always thought that a heart attack and a Cardiac Arrest were the same thing, but when I started to read that site I found out that I was wrong about that. Even though they are two different things, both can be caused by high cholesterol though.

On that site you can find good information on how the heart works, risk factors, patient stories and resources. All very helpful information; for me it’s really been an eye opener. Anyway, if you want to know if you are at risk for a heart disease you can do their risk assessment.

At the moment I am just really watching my diet and try to exercise more. I am also taking medication for the high cholesterol. Soon I will get some new blood tests done and I hope my cholesterol levels will return to normal.
