Which concerts did you go to?
Yesterday I was downloading some tunes when I came across the ‘Bro Hymn’ from Pennywise. Since I left most of my cd’s back in Holland when I moved to Australia I thought it would be fun to download it so I could listen to it again. Listening to the song brought back so many memories.
In 1996 I saw Pennywise live on the Pinkpop Festival in Holland and at night time thousands of people were singing the Bro Hymn on the festival camping. It was so much fun. Over the years I have seen so many bands. I can’t remember much of all the gigs but there always some concerts that stand out and I thought it would be fun to write about them.
dEUS - I was lucky to survive this one. I was some where in the front when all of the sudden people from the back started to push real hard. After being pushed from the back and the front I ended up on the ground with 10 people on top of me. I managed to get up and out of the crowd but lost a lot of hair and was pretty bruised afterwards. It was a scary experience.
Pearl Jam - I’ve seen them twice, they are my favorite band. Both concerts were absolutely beautiful and gave me goosebumps all over.
Rage Against The Machine - Awesome band with lots of energy and thousands of people jumping up and down at the same time. This concert made it on the scale of Richter.
De Heideroosjes - My favorite Dutch punk band. I’ve seen them perform live twice. After the first one I was fortunate enough to meet them. And… they asked me for my signature!!! Second concert was free if you were wearing their red “I’m not deaf, I’m just ignoring you” T-shirt. I almost broke my nose in that concert :-S
Silverchair - This concert was the biggest turn off ever! I checked my tickets at least 20 times to make sure I wasn’t going to the back street boys. I felt OLD; the place was filled with 13 year olds tarted up a la Paris Hilton. All I heard was screaming and the singer Daniel Johns acted to sooooooooooo gay!
Sepultura - This concert was sick! In a very good way…
Korn - I Love Korn, I really like their music and the energy on stage was great.
Postmen - Another Dutch band that I have seen twice, but Postmen is more reggae style. My partner really likes that kind of music and I just came along. But I enjoyed them more than I thought and bought a few cd’s afterwards.
Shane MacGowan & the Popes - This one was hilarious. The music is not my thing, but the singer was so drunk. He could hardly stand up and was just mumbling in the microphone. After about 3 songs the organization took him off the stage.
The Prodigy - This concert was soooooooooo loud. You could feel the beat go right through your body. You just had to move, as if you had some electronics under your boots that forced you to move.
Within Temptation - Another Dutch band that is awesome. I love their melodic gothic type of music. I just want to steal have all the dresses of the singer…
Radiohead - ‘Creep’ was my life song when I saw them. The rain was pouring down; I looked like a drowned cat. I will never forget the bright yellow rain suit the singer was wearing…
Kings of Leon - This band is just awesome and I am so addicted to their music right now. If you feel down you should listen to them. In no time you are up and dancing.
Limp Bizkit - I am not a big Limp Bizkit fan at all, but the concert was very energetic and made you wanna sing along and jump around whether you liked it or not.
Muse - Muse is good, muse is cool… That’s all I can say.
Oasis - I really don’t like Oasis, but the concert was pretty funny as everyone was throwing cartons and beer cups at them. They went off stage, came back, went off stage again, etc.
I could go on and on, but I won’t go into details. Here a list of the other bands that I’ve seen:
Type-O-Negative, Sick of it all, Del Amitri, Dog Eat Dog, Teenage Fanclub, Osdorp Posse, Faith No More, Biohazard, Rollins Band, Live, Spearhead, Van Dik Hout, Slash’s Snakepit, Bad Religion, Heather Nova, Hootie & the Blowfish, Dave Matthews Band, Fun Lovin’ Criminals, Fugees, Butthole Surfers, Life of Agony, The Gathering, K’s Choice, Bush, Skunk Anansie, Rancid, Metal Molly, Alanis Morisette, Therapy?, The Presidents of the USA, Dead Punk Society, Caesar, Green Lizard, Tracy Bonham, Novastar, Gomez, Die Toten Hosen, Counting Crows, The The, Dreadlock Pussy, Micheal Franti & Spearhead, Queens of the Stone Age, Ellen Ten Damme, Brain Power, Papa Roach, Outkast, Johan, Lifehouse, 3 Doors Down, Manic Street Preachers, Tindersticks, Tool, etc.
It could be that I missed a couple of bands, but that list pretty much sums it all up. What concerts did you go to?
