Link Love = Good Karma
I am a strong believer in karma. I believe that you will get what you send out. If you treat people with respect you will earn respect from other people. If you treat someone like dirt, don’t expect those people to like you or help you out when you need something. The same rule applies in the blogging world. If you send out love to other bloggers, whether that is by commenting on their articles, linking to their blogs, or simply helping them if they ask for something, you most likely will get some good karma in return.
A good example of good karma is giving out link love. Some bloggers are very stingy when it comes to linking to other blogs. Maybe they don’t want you to leave their blogs, maybe they see you as the competition, maybe they don’t take the time to read other good articles, or maybe they just haven’t thought about the fact that some link love equals good karma for them.
I love to give out link love. I give every new member of my MyBlogLog community a link to their site.I like it when people sign up to my community, it gives me the feeling that it is worth while to keep on going with this blog. Giving them a link is my way of saying “Thank you”. I also have regular editions of Link Love. In these posts I link to articles that I find interesting, helpful, funny or something that I just want to share with you all.
There are several benefits of giving out link love. When you link to someone else’s article most of the time (unless the trackbacks are turned off), you will receive a trackback link to your post in the comment section of that article. That’s where the karma comes in. You linked to their article and in return you receive a trackback link. If you have a trackback on a do-follow site (where the no-follow code is turned off) you even have a nice back link to your site.
If you link to an article, the person who wrote it will most likely come to your blog to check out your post. If they like what they see you can turn that person into a regular visitor. The trackback link that you get on the other blog can also generate a nice amount of traffic. On one of my other blogs I linked to a very well known site, an authority blog in it’s niche. The trackback link on that blog is giving me steady traffic to my site. It’s a great way to showcase your blog on other sites.
So instead of commenting on article that you really like, you might want to consider writing a post with your thoughts about it. The person who wrote the article gets some link love and you will receive some good karma in return!

[...] Make a new post where you link to all the articles you enjoyed or found interesting for the past week/fortnight/month. This way you can at least send your visitors to some interesting articles. Link love is not only good for when you have no inspiration at all, but it is also good karma! [...]
