Lately you see heaps of Cash Quest Blogs (like this one) popping up. A lot of people want to make some extra cash on the internet and blogging is getting a more and more popular way of doing that. Even if you are not exactly web savvy you can start a blog and start making money.

Personally I only started this blog Make Money Online blog because I had this domain laying around and I thought I it would be nice to make a personal journey about how my earnings from my other sites were going. Just for myself, so in a year I could compare the months and earnings and see what I could improve. But as the visitors started to come (after only 2 posts) it has turned into something different than I had planned.

Now what I want to talk about today is what is more profitable to blog about? Cash quests or specific topics? Below you will find my personal opinion and you might not agree with it, that’s okay! I would love to hear your opinion on this.

In my opinion it is more profitable to have a blog or site about a specific topic. There are so many cash quests blog out there and the main visitors to those sites are bloggers who have the same mission. People with the same mission try to make money the same way, they sign up with the same programs, etc. You might be lucky if some of them sign up as a referral for some money making sites, but other than that I don’t see you making much money of them. Those visitors are not likely to click on your adsense ads. You might get a charity click every now and than or a reward click for the great post you write, but that’s it! That’s why I haven’t bothered about monetizing this site with adsense ads. I have tried bidvertiser though, but after zero clicks in a few weeks time I gave up on them!

When you have blogs or sites with a specific topic (I have a couple of them) you have a better chance of people clicking on your adsense ads. The ads are topic related and actually interest the people who click on them. You can also try to sell some affiliate products on your niche site. A lot of times you can find something that is bang on topic and you can be successful in selling those products. I have actually been approached by a shop and offered a nice commission to promote some products on my main site.

With cash quest blogs you ultimately will run out of topics, or you will write about something that others have written about many times before. Sure you can add your own twist, but when you think about it, cash quest blogs are very alike. And not to mention there are so many of them that it is getting hard to stand out in the crowd. With niche blogs you usually have less competition and it is easier to rank higher in the SERPS.

If you want to start making money online I personally recommend making a blog or site about a topic you are passionate about. This can be a hobby or maybe a topic you know a lot about. The less competition for your niche the better. Sure cash quest blogs can make you money, I will not deny this. But in my opinion it is a lot harder!
