Make Money Online Playing Poker

Not many of you know that I like to play poker. I love to play Texas Holdem. It all started when we got a satellite hooked up and we could watch the World Poker Tour. Not long after I started playing on different online poker rooms.

A few months back I heard a radio ad about the Australian Poker League where you can play free poker tournaments. We decided to have a look and not long after we played about 4 poker tournaments a week (after all it’s free entertainment). Me and my partner didn’t do too bad; we’ve won tournaments and I’ve finished 2nd in the overall rankings twice. I probably would have been venue champion if I hadn’t miss some tournaments.

After the tournament we used to have a few cash games with some friends. The buy in was only $2 but most of the times we would walk away with $50. Not a bad return for our $2 buy in. Unfortunately we kind of got ‘uninvited’ for those games as we were always cleaning up :(
Unfortunately we’ve moved to another town and there aren’t as many poker tournaments around. So we decided to open up a money account at Full tilt Poker. They have a promotion going at the moment. They double your deposit as a bonus (up to $600). So now we have an extra $100 in our bonus account.

I have to admit that I was a bit worried with opening up a money account. We’re not exactly rich and the thought of losing the money playing poker is not a nice one. But I have to admit; we’re doing great!

We’ve decided to play $1 +$0.25 games with 45 players, so if you lose, you only lose $1.25. The first 6 places get paid. And guess what… We’ve won a few. About 80% of the time we end up in the money. We’re up $70 in only a couple of days! Being in the money 80% of the time is great. If we can keep this average up it won’t be too long before we can request a check to be send out to us.

Making money online playing poker is awesome, but I do not recommend this to people who don’t know how to play. If you would like to do the same, start playing with play money first to learn the game. Or see if there are any free poker tournaments in your neighbourhood. Then if you feel confident enough, start playing with a low buy in, that way you can’t lose much either.

For the good poker players $70 might seem like peanuts, but we’re happy with it. We’re not planning on doing higher buy in tournaments unless our bankroll would allow us. For now it’s just heaps of fun and making profit is wonderful.
